The 'Efficient Buildings' Med Community sets sail to its 1st Annual Congress. Nice, 4 - 6 October 2017
The MED Thematic Community 'Efficient Buildings' will have its first annual congress under the title “Choosing the route to Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings in the Med area: a pathway to policies and practices.”
The event will focus on the ten Modular Projects’ that compose the Thematic Community, their first steps and results. The point of departure is common to all projects that deal with energy efficiency in public buildings: the majority of public buildings is not adequately designed to reduce their energy consumption and improve their EE performance. Also the reasons are well-known: from a lack of awareness of owners and managers to knowledge gaps in designing valid projects and finding financial strategies to implement them. The contribution MEDNICE is striving for is to communicate and capitalize the results of its modular projects in a Mediterranean perspective. On the technical side cooling buildings might be more important than in other parts of Europe, heating less so, the behavioral dimension needs to be viewed looking at cultural patterns of energy behavior, the financial strategies have to take into account the specific national policies and the spending power of local authorities. All of this in a transnational perspective building a strong Energy efficiency MED community.
The second part of the 1st Annual Congress will see contributions by EU high level actors and training sessions
on the central themes of innovative financing schemes and renovation strategies to support the modular projects in their work.
